Yesterday in XC action, your Mustangs traveled to Shikellamy for the PHAC Invitational. It was a great afternoon of running for the Mustangs. Out of 108 runners Ben Hummel led the way for your Mustangs coming in 8th overall and setting a new PR with a time of 16:45.5, beating his previous best by 10 seconds. Anden Aitkins came in 19th overall. Gabe Dively had a PR on the night as well, beating his previous time by 38 seconds. As a team your Mustangs came in 8th out of 16 teams.
Today's boys soccer game at Greenwood is postponed, TBD.
Field Hockey will host Southern Columbia today at 5:30 pm, varsity only. We will celebrate our seniors at halftime of the game.

Congratulations to the Midd-West golf team and coaches. Midd-West sent 6 golfers to the PIAA District IV individual championships at Williamsport Country Club this past Thursday and Monday. The following qualified for the tournament: Kyle Beward, Noah Romig, Garrett Leitzel, Chris Walter, Trevor Sheaffer and Westin Kuhns. The top 6 golfers out of District IV qualify for the State tournament at Penn State. Noah Romig finished 3rd overall and Kyle Beward finished in 5th place. Both Midd-West golfers will advance to the PIAA State tournament this Monday and Tuesday. Congratulations to the team for sending the most qualifiers to the District IV tournament in school history and also two individuals to the state tournament. Good luck to Noah and Kyle as they finish out their season at Penn State.
A few sports announcements:
Junior High (grades 7 and 8) girls basketball will start practice on Tuesday, October 10th at 3:15 in the middle school gym. All girls need a current physical to be eligible to start practice. There will be a parent meeting that same evening after practice at 5:15 pm in the middle school gym.
The following winter sports will start practice on November 17th (more details to come):

Sign-ups have occurred in the high school and middle school. Your child has received the proper paperwork if they signed up with Mrs. Solomon (please ask them to see it). If not, please email Mrs. Solomon at bsolomon@mwsd.cc
All participants need a current PIAA physical dated after 6/1/2023 to be eligible to start practices. There will be a parent/athlete meeting for all students participating in a winter sport on Monday, Nov. 13th at 6:00 pm in the high school auditorium.
Junior High Boys Basketball will start practices on December 4th.

Attention any 7th and 8th grade girls who want to participate in basketball: the first practice will be on October 10th at 3:15 pm in the middle school gym. All participants need to have a healthy roster account and a current physical dated after 6/1/2023. If you have already participated in a fall sport, a recertification form is needed. Mandatory pre-season practices for varsity football (grades 9-12) and golf (grades 9-12) begin on Monday, August 7th. Below is a list of the start times. Reminder, all athletes must have a current PIAA physical to start practices.
Varsity Football - August 7th @ football stadium from 1:00-3:00 pm, 5:00-8:00 pm
Varsity Golf - August 7th @ Shade Mountain GC from 3:15-5:45 pm
All other fall sports will start on August 14th or later, those schedules will be posted soon!
Congratulations to Midd-West rising senior, Camryn Pyle, who received a citation from State Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver for her outstanding performance at the PIAA State Track and Field championships.
Tonight's fall athlete parent meeting location has been changed - the meeting will be held in Sports Boosters athletic park at 7:00 pm.
There will be a meeting for all fall athletes and parents in the high school auditorium on Thursday, July 27th at 7:00 pm. We will review MWSD and PIAA policies along with answer questions about the upcoming 2023 Fall season. Many of the booster clubs will also meet by sport. The following athletes and a parent should attend:
7-12 Football, Cheer and Cross Country
9-12 Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Field Hockey, Golf, Girls Volleyball
7-8 Softball
Reminder, PIAA physicals tonight from 5:30-8:00 pm in the high school nurse's office. Cost is $15.00 per physical. Any athletes in grades 7-12 who will need a physical for the 2023-2024 school year can attend.
