Midd-West High School would like to recognize the following students for being selected as a Leader of the H.E.R.D. These students regularly exhibit one (or more) of the four-character traits of the H.E.R.D., being Helpful, Empathetic, Responsible, Driven, and contribute to Midd-West High School in a positive way.
The 8th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for May is Viola Worrell. She is the daughter of Christopher and Rashael Worrell of Beavertown. Viola was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she is a respectful student who is always happy to participate in class. Viola is involved in the Theater. Outside of school, she enjoys crocheting, painting, and climbing trees. In the future, Viola plans to go to college and enter the field of cosmetology and tattoo artistry.
Collin Zechman is the 9th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for May. He is the son of Michael and Heather Zechman of Middleburg. In school, Collin is a member of the Baseball Team. He is involved in the FFA and serves as the Treasurer. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors hunting and fishing, working on farms, fixing tractors and trucks, and showing livestock and dairy cows at the Beaver Community Fair. After graduation, Collin plans to obtain a career in the field of agriculture. Collin was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is a dedicated student who goes above and beyond in every way and works endlessly to meet all expectations in his academic work, extracurriculars, and community involvement. In addition, he supports his peers in a positive manner and makes sure that they feel appreciated.
The 10th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for May is Darius Nelson. He is the son of Sara Dressler of Middleburg and Kyle Nelson of Mt. Pleasant Mills. Darius is involved with the Yearbook as a photographer and was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he has gone above and beyond with the yearbook photography and has regularly volunteered to cover more events than he is required. Outside of school, he enjoys playing golf, basketball, and pickleball. After graduation, Darius is planning to attend college.
Jared Devine is the 11th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for May. He is the son of Donna Arnold of Middleburg. In school, Jared participates in Wrestling and Key Club. He enjoys playing pickleball and hanging out with his friends. Jared is planning to attend SUN Area Technical Institute in his Senior year. In the future, he would like to go to Lineman School to become a lineman. Jared was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is always willing to do anything that is asked of him. He stepped in to help with a Key Club event doing a task that no one else wanted to do and is great working with kids at the events.
The 12th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for May is Tyler Hollenbach. He is the son of Michael Hollenbach of Middleburg and Erica Maenak. Tyler was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is a great example to his peers. He always completes his work on time, willingly works with others, and encourages those working on group projects to stay on task. Tyler is in the Work Study Program with a placement at Wood-Mode in Kreamer. In his free time, he likes playing video games, bowling, golfing, hiking, and hanging out with his friends. After graduation, Tyler is planning to further his education and train to be an electrician.
