
Midd-West High School’s Young American for May 2026 is Cali Sauer. She is the daughter of Chris and Carla Sauer of Middleburg. Cali holds several leadership positions as the Student Council Vice President, Spanish Club President, Senior Class School Board Representative, and Captain of the Girls Basketball and Softball Teams. Cali has been selected as a Student of the Month in 9th and 12th grade. She has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll every year through high school and is a member of the National Honor Society and Class Congress. Cali has earned softball honors as the 2024 Daily Item First Team 1B, 2025 PAHSSBCA Second Team All-State Softball Utility, and 2025 Daily Item Second Team Outfield. Cali gives back to her community by helping with local youth softball teams and being a blood donor. Additionally, she has given back to the school by volunteering as a 5th Grade Camp Outdoor Education Counselor at Camp Mount Luther, Trunk or Treats, and Elementary Basketball. Her favorite things to do are reading, shopping, playing softball, and hanging out with friends and family. After graduation, Cali is planning to attend Converse University to major in Biology while playing softball at the collegiate level. She believes she was selected as a Young American because of her involvement in the community as well as her leadership skills. Cali would like people to know that her family is a big influence on who she is. She appreciates everything that they do for her.
