Midd-West High School would like to recognize the following students for being selected as a Leader of the H.E.R.D. These students regularly exhibit one (or more) of the four-character traits of the H.E.R.D., being Helpful, Empathetic, Responsible, Driven, and contribute to Midd-West High School in a positive way.

LYThe 8th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for February is Leah Yoder. She is the daughter of Jeremy and Marcy Yoder of Middleburg. Leah was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she is a kind, respectful, and polite student who is a hard worker, is constantly focused on the task at hand, and works well with others. Leah is a member of the Junior High Girls Softball Team. Outside of school, she enjoys painting and hanging out with her friends and family. In the future, Leah would like to attend SUN Area Technical Institute for Cosmetology.

LMLandon Masden is the 9th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for February. He is the son of Karysha Moyer of Sunbury and Corey Masden of Beavertown. In school, Landon participates in Basketball and DECA. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games and soccer, drawing, and reading Manga. After graduation, Landon is planning to go to college and become a defense attorney or a detective. Landon was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he willingly volunteers, participates in class, and helps wherever needed.

LWThe 10th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for February is Layla Wagner. She is the daughter of Brock and Amanda Wagner of Beaver Springs. Layla was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she is always attentive, participating, and setting a good example for her peers. She goes above and beyond in the classroom and takes initiative where she sees a need. Layla’s school activities include Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, working with her horses, doing rodeo barrel racing, and camping. After graduation, Layla is planning to attend college for a degree in Communications and pursue a career in Christian Journalism.

KDKaraline Dietzel is the 11th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for February. She is the daughter of Nathaniel and Marlana Dietzel of Middleburg. In school, Karaline participates in Cheerleading, Student Council, and Class Congress. She enjoys being a part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In the future, Karaline would like to become a Dental Hygienist. Karaline was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she is always positive, friendly to all, manages her classwork in a timely manner, and is willing to work with others.

NDThe 12th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for February is Nolan DeLong. He is the son of Dennis and Allison DeLong of Middleburg. Nolan was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because of his work ethic at his Work Study placement at Bingaman and Sons Lumber in Kreamer. Nolan starts at 5:00 AM on their maintenance team before coming into school for the day. He has received high praise for his motivation, cooperation, and team effort. Nolan’s school activities include Wrestling and Track and Field. In his free time, he likes spending time doing side projects, traveling, and skiing. After graduation, Nolan is planning to apply to Seafarers International Union and learn the skills of the trade while traveling the world.
