Midd-West High School would like to recognize the following students for being selected as Student of the Month. These are students who represent Midd-West High School well through their academics, attendance, involvement in activities, and good citizenship (responsible, hard-working, and dependable).

ASThe 8th grade Student of the Month for January is Ali Sheaffer. She is the daughter of Aimee Hackenberg of Middleburg and Chandler Sheaffer of Middleburg. Ali was chosen as the Student of the Month because she is always prepared for class, is excelling academically, and participates in extracurriculars. Ali’s school activities include Field Hockey, Chorus, and Thursday Morning Bible Study. Outside of school, she enjoys participating in her youth group, singing on her church’s Praise and Worship Team, and playing the piano. In the future, Ali is planning to attend college.

CSCarly Steininger is the 9th grade Student of the Month for January. She is the daughter of Chad and Stacey Steininger of Middleburg. In school, Carly participates in Soccer, Student Council, and Enrichment. In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar, attending her youth group, dancing, and teaching dance classes to younger students. After graduation, Carly is planning to become a Pediatric Nurse. Carly was selected as the Student of the Month because she is an excellent student who always has a smile on her face and is kind and helpful to others while maintaining a challenging schedule and participating in extracurriculars.

KSThe 10th grade Student of the Month for January is Kimberlyn Smith. She is the daughter of Jessica Yost of McClure and Joshua Yost of Beaver Springs. Kimberlyn was selected as the Student of the Month because she is an excellent, hard-working, goal-oriented student who maintains a positive attitude along with balancing a challenging schedule and extracurriculars, all while continuing to be kind and helpful to others. Kimberlyn’s school activities include Choir, Vocal Ensemble, Vocal Collective, District Choir, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Class Congress, and National Honor Society. She has been active in Theater since sixth grade, serves as the High School Theater Treasurer, and had a leading role in this year’s Fall Play. Outside of school, she enjoys crocheting, reading, writing, singing, going on adventures with her friends, spending time with her family, and growing in her relationship with God. After graduation, Kimberlyn is planning to further her education in the medical field or in music education.

BKBriahna Keister is the 11th grade Student of the Month for January. She is the daughter of Matthew and Kayla Keister of Beaver Springs. In school, Briahna participates in Softball and serves as the Treasurer for the Class of 2027. She enjoys go-cart racing, watching dirt track racing, playing bingo at the Moose, and hanging out with her friends. In the future, Briahna is planning to attend a school of nursing to become a Registered Nurse and specialize in either Pediatrics or NICU. Briahna was chosen as the Student of the Month because she is an excellent, motivated student who is a wonderful example to her peers, diligent in completing quality work in a timely manner, in addition to volunteering and participating in class. She is always willing to help others and is respectful to staff.

MSThe 12th grade Student of the Month for January is Madison Swineford. She is the daughter of Curtis and Amanda Swineford of Middleburg. Madison was chosen as the Student of the Month because she maintains and balances a challenging schedule and leadership roles during her senior year. Madison is taking classes at Bloomsburg University in the CEUC program and participates in a Geisinger Co-Op Program. She serves in leadership roles as the Yearbook Editor, National Honor Society President, and Senior Class President. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, and hanging out with her friends. After graduation, Madison is planning to further her education at Penn State University for Nursing and ultimately become a CRNA.
