Midd-West High School December 2025 Young American

Midd-West High School’s Young American for December 2025 is Ian Hall. He is the son of Gregory and Nadia Hall of Middleburg. Ian holds leadership positions as the Varsity Captain of the Midd-West Cross Country Team and President of the Street Hockey Club. In addition, he serves as the Master of Ceremonies for Pep Rallies. Ian has been selected as the Student of the Month in 8th, 10th, and 12th grade. He has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll every marking period throughout his high school career. Ian earned the highest GPA in Social Studies in 10th grade. He received 1st place at the 2025 Keystone Hackathon Competition, Engineering Excellence Award, and Honorable Mention for the Daily Item Cross Country Team in both 2024 and 2025. He also gives guided tours to new and upcoming students in the high school. Ian serves his community that he lives in by helping with the dogs of the neighborhood. He takes care of all his neighbors’ dogs when they are away and is known as the Neighborhood Dog Watcher. Ian enjoys longboarding, hiking, and mountain biking in his free time. After graduation, Ian will be attending the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown and will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering. With this degree he is planning to work in the world of motorsports as a race engineer, working for teams to help design, improve, and succeed in the category of motorsport that they race in. Ian believes he was chosen as a Young American because he is always willing to help when asked, no matter what the situation is or what he is doing. Ian would like others to know that he can say "Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa", or Triggerfish, in Hawaiian.
