Midd-West High School would like to recognize the following students for being selected as a Leader of the H.E.R.D. (Helpful, Empathic, Responsible, and Driven). These students put forth effort, attend school regularly, and contribute to Midd-West High School in a positive way.

KGThe 8th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for November is Kenadee Gemberling. She is the daughter of Joshua and Stacy Gemberling of Mount Pleasant Mills. Kenadee was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she has a strong work ethic, positive attitude toward learning, and is a positive example to her peers. Kenadee’s school activities include 8th Grade Band, Choir, and First Responder Club. Outside of school, she enjoys doing dance and teaching dance to younger students. In the future, Kenadee plans to attend college to major in law.

PSPiper Sampsell is the 9th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for November. She is the daughter of Dustin Sampsell and Michelle Moyer of Middleburg. In school, Piper participates in Cheerleading. Her favorite subjects are Fun with Foods and Floral Design. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, painting, and hanging out with her friends. After graduation, Piper is planning to attend Penn State University. Piper was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she is an asset in class, works well with others, and completes excellent work in a timely manner.

KHThe 10th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for November is Klayton Herman. He is the son of Katrina Folk and Michael Folk of Beavertown and the late Ricky Herman. Klayton was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is a kind, respectful, and courteous student in and out of the classroom who is always willing to help his peers and has a smile on his face. Klayton’s activities in school include FFA and Rodeo Shooting Team. He serves as the FFA Treasurer. Outside of school, he enjoys restoring and working on trucks, shooting, hunting, and working. In addition, Klayton participates in the Keystone Junior Rodeo. After graduation, Klayton is planning to attend Lineman School and work on windmills and towers in the western part of the United States.

RKRowen Kuhns is the 11th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for November. He is the son of Mark and Natalie Kuhns of Middleburg. Rowen’s school activities include Bowling, Battle Bots, and is Secretary of the Junior Class as. He enjoys hunting, bowling, and metal detecting. Rowen is volunteer fire fighter with the Reliance Hose Company in Middleburg. In the future, Rowen is planning to attend college and join the Coast Guard. Rowen was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is a hard-working and respectful student who strives to do well and takes initiative in the classroom without prompting.

FHThe 12th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for November is Forest Hoffman. He is the son of Mark and Trisha Hoffman of Richfield. Forest was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is a kind student who always has his work completed, is punctual, asks questions when needed, and communicates well with others. In school, Forest is involved in FFA and is employed with Kline’s Woodworking in Middleburg through the Work Study Program. In his free time, he enjoys doing Bible studies and hunting. Forest is an active member of the Richfield Volunteer Fire Company. He is involved in his youth group at Richfield Life Ministries and serves as a Worship Leader. After graduation, Forest is planning to enter the work force in the carpentry field.
