Midd-West High School May 2025 Young American
Midd-West High School’s May 2025 Young American is Benjamin Rood. He is the son of Scott and Raena Rood of Mount Pleasant Mills. Benjamin has served as the Assistant Tenor Section Leader in Choir (11th) and currently serves as the Captain of the Quiz Bowl Team (12th). Benjamin was selected as the Student of the Month in 8th and 9th grade and a Leader of the H.E.R.D. in 11th grade. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll every year throughout his high school career. In 10th and 11th grade, he was the winner of the National History Day Regional Contest. Benjamin is enrolled in Bloomsburg University’s CUEC program for his senior year. Benjamin has given back to his community by being a counselor at 5th Grade Outdoor Education (11th and 12th), a volunteer at the Special Education Field Day (11th), and a volunteer at the 6th Grade STEAM Day (11th). He enjoys drawing, sketching, and writing in his free time. In the future, Benjamin is planning to attend college in the area and major in History or Political Science. He would like to travel to wherever his career may take him. He also would like to be a pollster or a political analyst. Benjamin believes he was chosen as a Young American because he tries to emulate the same interactions with everyone he encounters, namely treating all people with respect and decency. Benjamin would like others to know that he is honored to be a Young American, as it goes together with his values, his faith in God, and his love for his country.
