Midd-West High School would like to recognize the following students for being selected as the Students of the Month. These are students who represent Midd-West High School well through their academics, attendance, involvement in activities, and good citizenship (responsible, hard-working, and dependable).

EWThe 8th grade Student of the Month for May is Evelyn Weiser. She is the daughter of Joshua and Heather Weiser of Beaver Springs. Evelyn was chosen as the Student of the Month because she is a responsible student who is motivated to succeed and has a great work ethic. Evelyn’s school activities include Cross Country, Basketball, Positivity Club, Concert Choir, and FFA. Outside of school, she enjoys participating in 4-H, attending youth group, going to the gym, shopping with her mom, and spending time outdoors. In the future, Evelyn plans to attend college for medicine and become an OB/GYN.

BGBrady Gunkle is the 9th grade Student of the Month for May. He is the son of Edward and Karie Gunkle of Middleburg. In school, Brady participates in Golf, Bowling, and FFA. He has also competed in Battle Bots. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, listening to music, bowling, golfing, and playing guitar. Brady is actively involved in Boy Scouts and is a Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 415. In addition, Brady is a member of the competitive bass Wildcat High School Fishing Club. The team won the 2024 Major League Bass Fishing High School State Champion and became the 2024 PA B.A.S.S. Nation High School State Champions. After graduation, Brady is planning to attend college. Brady was selected as the Student of the Month because he is a hard-working student who has a positive attitude and demonstrates leadership skills.

TDThe 10th grade Student of the Month for May is Trey Dressler. He is the son of Derik and Christa Dressler of Beavertown. Trey was selected as the Student of the Month because he consistently works hard and challenges himself by taking honors courses. He is involved in extracurriculars and has recently stepped into the role of a DECA officer. Trey’s school activities include Soccer and DECA. Outside of school, he enjoys mowing, fly fishing, and hanging out with friends and family. After graduation, Trey is planning to attend the Naval Academy.

MAMaura Aurand is the 11th grade Student of the Month for May. She is the daughter of Amos and Amanda Aurand of Middleburg. In school, Maura participates in National Honor Society, Thursday Morning Group, Vocal Collective, Track and Field, and Field Hockey. Her leadership roles include FFA President, Soprano Section Leader in Choir, 4-H President, and the 2024 Beaver Community Fair Queen. Maura enjoys reading, playing the guitar, singing, raising and showing livestock, attending youth group, and hanging out with her friends and family. She is gifted vocally and performs the National Anthem at many community events. In the future, Maura is planning to attend college to study animal sciences. Maura was chosen as the Student of the Month because she is an outstanding and very active student who is involved not only in school activities but in the community as well.

LKThe 12th grade Student of the Month for May is Lana Kratzer. She is the daughter of Carl and Moriah Kratzer of Middleburg. Lana was chosen as the Student of the Month because she is a hard-working, polite, and respectful student who strives to do well, helps others when possible, and always stands out as a leader. Lana’s school activities include Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Choir, Vocal Collective, and Event Choir. She is actively involved in Theater and is a member of the National Honor Society. In Lana’s free time, she enjoys baking and spending time outdoors with her family. After graduation, Lana is planning to further her education by attending Susquehanna University for Early Childhood Education.
