Students of the Month

MSThe 8th grade Student of the Month for March is Maverick Smith. He is the son of Matt and Crystal Smith of Middleburg. Maverick was chosen as Student of the Month because he always pays attention to details and is respectful in the classroom as well as toward his peers. His school activities include Junior High Football and Basketball, Card Games Club, and Hunting/Fishing Club. Maverick is also a Distinguished Honor Roll student. Outside of school, he enjoys playing baseball with Babe Ruth Junior/Senior League and 14U Mifflin County Eagles Baseball, in addition to hunting, steelhead fishing, weightlifting, and spending time with his family. In the future, Maverick plans to attend college under an athletic or academic scholarship but is undecided about a field of study.

GRGabriel Romig is the 9th grade Student of the Month for March. He is the son of Christopher and Mandi Romig of Middleburg. In school, Gabe is involved in DECA and is a member of the Boys Soccer Team and Basketball Team. In his free time, he enjoys playing club soccer, golfing, playing video games with friends, hanging out at the Sassafras Sip and Dip, and spending time with family. After graduation, Gabe plans to attend college for Business and play collegiate soccer. Gabe was selected as Student of the Month because he maintains an A average GPA while taking several Honors classes as a Freshman and participates in extracurricular activities.

SJThe 10th grade Student of the Month for March is Sydney Jordan. She is the daughter of Jesse and Amber Jordan of Middleburg. Sydney was selected as the Student of the Month because she is a hardworking, high achieving student who is reliable, always on pace, willingly participates in class, comes to class prepared to learn, supports and encourages her peers, and shows extreme kindness and positivity. Sydney’s school activities include Field Hockey and Lacrosse. Outside of school, she enjoys club field hockey with the Bison Club, baking, playing Just Dance, family cook outs by the pool, and spending time with friends and family. After graduation, Sydney is planning to attend college but is undecided currently on a field of study.

MSMatthew Smith is the 11th grade Student of the Month for March. He is the son of Jonathan and Leah Smith of Middleburg. Matthew participates in Wrestling in school. He has served as an Outdoor Education Counselor for 5th Grade Camp and was on the Homecoming Court this past year. Matthew recently achieved 100 + career wrestling wins. He has earned the District IV Champion and the Northeast Regional Champion the past two years. This past year he placed fourth in the state. He enjoys lifting, hunting, fly fishing, camping, and spending time with friends and family. In the future, Matthew is planning to either pursue a welding career or go to college for Outdoor Recreation and wrestle at the collegiate level. Matthew was chosen as Student of the Month because he is a conscientious student who is always polite.

CPThe 12th grade Student of the Month for March is Camryn Pyle. She is the daughter of Kevin and Shannon Pyle of Mt. Pleasant Mills. Camryn was chosen as Student of the Month because she is a hardworking student who is extremely focused on academics, asks meaningful questions, clarifies anything she is uncertain about, and aspires to be properly prepared for college. Camryn’s school activities include Soccer, Ski and Snowboard Club, and Track and Field. She is a member of the Student Council and serves as the Vice President of the Senior Class. In Track and Field, Camryn was 7th in the 100 hurdles and 1st in the 300 hurdles in the state of PA. This first place finish makes Camryn not only the first state champion of Midd-West High School in Track and Field, but the first Midd-West High School state champion in any sport. In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, hunting, going to the races, being a lifeguard at the Middleburg Pool, going on vacations – especially to the beach, and spending time with friends and family. After graduation, Camryn is planning to further her education by attending Shippensburg University to study Business and continue her athletic career in Track and Field.
