Leaders of the H.E.R.D.

Midd-West High School would like to recognize the following students for being a Leader of the H.E.R.D. (Helpful, Empathic, Responsible, and Driven).

The 8th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for January is Cameron Whitenight. He is the son of Thomas and Tracy Whitenight of Beavertown. Cameron was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is a personable, friendly student who always says hello, is conscientious about completing tasks, and always puts forth his best effort. Outside of school, he enjoys working in the garage and riding bicycle and dirt bike. In the future, Cameron plans to become a welder or mechanic.



Jonathan Swineford is the 9th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for January. He is the son of Kevin and Melissa Swineford of Middleburg. In school, Jonathan participates in FFA. In his free time, his interests are in tractors, trucks, farming, hunting, and fishing. After graduation, Jonathan plans to join the work force. Jonathan was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is an all-around student with a positive attitude about learning and all aspects of life. He goes above and beyond in and out of the classroom.



The 10th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for January is Kace Hollenbach. He is the son of John and Stefanie Hollenbach of Middleburg. Kace was selected as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because he is a driven student who will ask for help when he needs it, participates in class, and gets his work done on time all while keeping to a busy schedule outside of school. Kace’s school activities include FFA, and he is a member of the Ag Mechanic Team. Outside of school, Kace is active in rodeo and participates in Bull Riding and Steer Wrestling events. He enjoys hunting, trapping, fishing, riding 4-wheeler, and hanging out with friends and family. After graduation, Kace is planning to pursue his rodeo career by entering the Pro Circuit hoping to win a world title.


Destiny Kerstetter is the 11th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for January. She is the daughter of Gary and Amy Kerstetter of McClure. Destiny participates in Key Club and YIP Club in school. She enjoys doing community service activities and hanging out with her friends and family. In the future, Destiny is planning to attend college for either Nursing or Radiology. Destiny was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she a well-rounded student with a caring personality, is respectful to adults and her peers, works to help her peers be successful, and is aware of the needs of others and what is going on around her.



The 12th grade Leader of the H.E.R.D. for January is Anabelle Portera. She is the daughter of Anthony and Carolyn Portera of Middleburg. Anabelle was chosen as the Leader of the H.E.R.D. because she has been a stellar student throughout high school who is able to grasp concepts quickly. She augments her learning beyond the school walls with interests that are intriguing and creative to supplement her education. Anabelle’s favorite subjects in school are Art and Creative Writing. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, painting, writing, and fossil hunting. After graduation, Anabelle is planning to further her education in Paleontology and take time to travel.
