Dear Middleburg Elementary Families,

Over the past ten years, the procedure for parent pick-up at dismissal has brought about unique challenges at Middleburg Elementary School. One primary concern is that in the event of an emergency in the local neighborhood, emergency personnel would have difficulty navigating to the scene. Although attempts have been made to address the situation over the years, the problem still exists. While this is no one's fault, it is our responsibility, as a district, to help create a solution.

We would like to thank you for the input you provided regarding your experiences with parent pick-up through the Parent Pick-Up Procedure Survey. After reviewing the input from the survey as well as feedback from a variety of stakeholders, we will be changing our procedure for parent pick-up at dismissal. For those families which participate in parent pick-up at dismissal, there will be two pick-up options: Car Rider or Walker.

Please see the specific details below regarding the new procedure for each pick-up option. This new procedure for parent pick-up at dismissal will begin on Monday, March 6, 2023. Officer Mall, our school security officer, and school personnel will be present to direct traffic and support the change of procedure for parent pick-up at dismissal. If you plan to change the way you pick up your child at dismissal (i.e. from a car rider to a walker/from a walker to a car rider), please notify the Middleburg Elementary Secretarial Staff by Thursday, March 2nd. We thank you for your support, cooperation, and patience as we make this change to keep our Middleburg Elementary students and community safe.
