Below is the text of a phone message sent at 10:30 today. Some people have said only part of the voice message came through. We know that our community is very concerned about the continuing education of our Midd-West School District students. That concern is one of the things that make our community such a fantastic place! The Midd-West School District Board of Directors, the administrative team, and all our staff members are equally concerned about educating our students amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic. Starting Monday, March 30, the Midd-West School District will be offering a mobile, online learning platform in an attempt to allow our students to maintain critical skills they learned in their courses. Additionally, online activities will be used to stay connected and extend our students’ learning into many content areas. This undertaking represents a monumental shift in how we educate students in grades K-5. Rest assured, our teachers and staff are developing and finding new and creative ways to educate students. We are offering these opportunities for students because it is the right thing to do during these unusual times. We strongly encourage your child to participate with the extension and connection activities that will be provided in Sapphire on Monday! We understand that all households do not have internet access. For those students we can provide activities so they are not limited by technology. If your household does not have internet, please call the school your child attends and leave a message for the secretary. We will mail activities to the address we have on file. Also, if you do not have internet, but can get a Verizon Wireless signal, we could possibly provide you with a Wi-Fi hotspot. When leaving a message, please indicate your desire for a hotspot. These will be on a first come first serve basis as devices become available. Also, 3rd marking periods report cards for grades 1-12 are available in Sapphire, kindergarten report cards have been mailed, and progress monitoring has either been mailed or emailed. If you have any questions, please email your child’s principal. Thank you for your support, flexibility, cooperation, and understanding during these unprecedented times.

Good evening West Snyder Families, In an effort to support your child educationally during this extended school closure the Midd-West School District will begin to share mobile content for enrichment and review on March 30. Teachers will be posting resources and activities on Sapphire. Please note: Internet access is required to access Sapphire. Since our elementary students do not have their own devices we have arranged for elementary families to borrow district laptops. If you have a child in grades 6-12 as well as an elementary student, we are asking that the elementary child be allowed to use their older sibling’s computer. For families with students only at the elementary school we will assign you a laptop to borrow for the duration of the school closing. We will be issuing 1 laptop per 3 children. If you have a laptop or desktop at home that you would prefer your child use, that is great, you are not required to use a district laptop. If you are not borrowing a laptop your child’s Sapphire information will be sent to you via his/her classroom teacher on Thursday, March 26. Laptop distribution will occur tomorrow, March 24 and Wednesday March 25 from 11 am – 1 pm at West Snyder Elementary School. Please follow the signs posted as we will follow a drive-thru format with all individuals remaining in their vehicles. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding. We want to continue to support you, your child, and your family during this difficult time. Laptop distribution will be tomorrow, March 24 and Wednesday March 25 from 11 am – 1 pm at West Snyder Elementary. Friday, March 13, 2020 the Midd-West School District will be closed as a precautionary measure. There has been a report that an individual returning from a high risk Coronavirus Area within the United States has been placed in quarantine due to symptoms consistent with the virus. This individual has had direct contact with an individual in our school district. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updated information through our website and Alert System. There are several protocols in place prior to a person to be tested for Coronavirus. The first step is to rule out other illnesses. We should know the results of these first tests in 48-72 hours. Which could allow schools to reopen Monday. Again, there have been no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the Midd-West School District. We are closing schools as an abundance of caution on Friday, March 13, 2020. Thanks for your patience as we work through these difficult times together. The health and safety of our students and families is our top priority.
