Meals for Mustangs

In 2013, Middleburg Elementary School piloted a Weekend Partners Program. This was a food program we developed within the Midd-West School District in an effort to supply children who could benefit from receiving food for the weekends.  Midd-West School partnered with the Central Susquehanna Food Bank and Beaver Lutheran Church, Beaver Springs, to help families in need.  We provide the families with at least, two breakfasts, two lunches, and two snacks on Friday’s so students are able to have nourishment on the weekends.

The number of children we are serving is growing rapidly.  We started with four students in 2014, and by the end of that school year, we were serving 39 children. In September 2015, we expanded the program to include students at West Snyder Elementary School, Midd-West Middle School, Pre K Counts, and Head Start.  We are now currently serving over 120 students in our elementary, middle, and high schools. The Weekend Partners Program changed its name to Meals for Mustangs (M4M) after receiving official approval to be classified with the Snyder County Coalition for Kids, a nonprofit organization that focuses their attention on the betterment of children in Snyder County.

We want the program to continue to grow. Meals for Mustangs is here to help. If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, please see and complete the attached documents. Upon completion and submission of the documents, the student(s) will be enrolled into the program and will start receiving the food for the weekends. The program is open to all students in the Midd-West School District. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 570-837-0046 ext. 4400 to further discuss how we can help.
